Root Rot is, by one Reddit reader's description, "a very, very strange & creepy little book." The writing style is deliberately odd — the children at the center of the story aren't given names, just labels like "The Crybaby" or "The Boy Twin," and the whole thing is narrated in a collective "we." That's the kind of structural weirdness that will send some readers running and pull others in completely.
There's only one book in the mentions: Root Rot. Nine kids at a grandfather's lake house, a lot wrong both inside and outside, and mushrooms oozing blood. That's your entry point and, as far as this data goes, your only point.
